About Andrew Burgoyne

Hi, I’m Andrew. I’m an Occupational Therapist, the founder of Elevate Therapy Solutions, and—if we’re being honest—a man who spends a significant amount of time thinking about how to make life work a little smoother.

In the clinical world, we talk about “meaningful occupations.” In the real world, that just means being able to do the things you need (and want) to do without your environment or your own body getting in the way. Whether it’s finding the right seating so you can actually enjoy a meal or navigating complex mobility challenges, my goal is to help you thrive in the middle of your own “everyday.”

Clinical Expertise and Equipment Specialist
My clinical background is extensive and varied, covering schools, residential care, community settings, and acute rehabilitation. This breadth of experience allows me to understand the unique challenges faced by clients at every stage of their journey—from initial recovery to long-term independence.

A core pillar of my practice is high-level equipment provision. I have extensive training and experience in equipment solutions on a national level, specializing in:

Complex Mobility & Postural Care: Expert guidance in wheeled mobility, bariatric equipment, 24-hour postural care, and specialized seating or comfort chairs.

Functional Maintenance: Identifying and providing transfer aids, rehabilitation tools, and pressure care products that maintain or improve functional status.

Sensory Modulation: Utilizing sensory products and trauma-informed practice to support emotional and physical well-being.

In addition to direct client work, I am deeply involved in Clinical Education. I provide training for nursing staff, care teams, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and procurement staff, focusing on clinical indicators and the effective use of equipment to improve patient outcomes.

A Unique Foundation
My path to Occupational Therapy wasn’t a straight line, and I believe that is one of my greatest assets. With a professional background across the construction, retail, and gaming industries, I bring a practical “builder’s eye” to my work. I don’t just see a clinical case; I see the mechanics of your environment and how to make it work for you.

This real-world experience, combined with over a decade of international volunteer work—including 10+ trips to Belarus and time in Alaska—has shaped my commitment to practical, hands-on help. These experiences taught me how to lead, adapt, and build partnerships to improve the lives of others, no matter the setting.

Life Beyond the Clinic
When I’m not working with clients, my life is anchored by my family and a love for the outdoors. As a husband and a father of five, I am well-acquainted with the “beautiful chaos” of a busy home—a perspective that makes me a more empathetic and realistic therapist.

My personal interests keep me balanced:

The Technical Eye: I enjoy watching Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), specifically for the tactical “chess match” of grappling and the fascinating breakdown of human biomechanics and movement.

The “DIY” Spirit: Whether it’s gardening or home projects, I’m an enthusiast for taking things apart and making them better.

Nature: Exploring the landscapes of Cork and Kerry with my family is where I find my own sense of well-being (and where I practice my skills in “group coordination” while looking for lost shoes in the rain!).

A Musical Note: I’m proud to have earned two All-Ireland gold medals as part of a group playing the mandolin and tin whistle, along with multiple other awards over the years. While the instruments don’t come out as often as they used to, that “practice-makes-perfect” mindset remains a core part of my professional approach.
